WHAT: Racing has gone to the dogs!! Join Sam Houston Race Park (www.shrp.com) for a unique afternoon of live racing events as The Park hosts the Inaugural Wiener Dog Races presented by PetCo. on Saturday, June 13, 2009. The event will include a series of wiener dog races taking place between live horse racing events, pet costume contest open to dogs of all breeds in the Value Day Fun Zone, awards ceremony for winning wiener dogs, prize giveaways and more!
Pet owners can download registration forms online at www.shrp.com. Registration fee for wiener dog race participants is $15 per pet. There is no fee for the costume contest. Racing events are open to Daschunds of all ages with miniature/toy category and full-size Daschunds are allowed to participate. Pets must have proof of current shot records on-hand at check-in the day of the event. The event will benefit the Bruce Kapp Animal Fund (www.brucekappanimalfund.com). Immediately following live racing events will be the Verizon Wireless Summer Concert Series on the Bud Light stage featuring American and special guest Christopher Cross.
